Formats
Cricket formats you can run
Cups, pools and leagues use the same entry list, so a club can run a T20 knockout in June and a league season from July.
Single elimination
Straight knockout cup for 4–64 teams, with an optional third-place match.
Best for: One-day club cups and charity six-a-side events.
Double elimination
Winners and losers brackets with a grand final and reset, for 4, 8, 16 or 32-team fields.
Best for: Weekend cups where one loss should not end the day.
Pool play → playoffs
Round-robin groups first, then the top teams advance into a seeded knockout bracket.
Best for: Festivals with several grounds and a finals day.
Round robin
Every team plays every other team, with configurable points and tiebreakers.
Best for: Small divisions and short club competitions.
Swiss system
Fixed rounds with strength-based pairing and Buchholz / Sonneborn-Berger tiebreakers.
Best for: Large junior fields that need a fair ranking without a knockout.
League season
Home-and-away fixtures with a table, configurable points and seeded playoffs.
Best for: Club leagues running across a summer.
Workflow
From the toss to the final over in three steps
The draw, the ground schedule and the results stay in sync, so you do not rebuild the cup after every match.
- 1
Create the event
Pick cricket, set the dates, venue and grounds, then open online registration or import a team list by CSV/Excel.
- 2
Build the divisions
Add senior, junior or club divisions, choose a cup or league format, set the points target and seed the draw.
- 3
Run the day
Check teams in with a QR code, publish the ground schedule, enter each result, and let brackets and tables update live.
Rules
Cricket rules and scoring in Brakto
Brakto records results and manages the draw; the official scorebook, overs and wickets stay with your scorers.
Overs and wickets decide the result
A limited-overs match is decided by runs scored against wickets lost, and a multi-day match by innings. Brakto does not score ball by ball or track overs and innings — your scorers keep the official book.
One result per match
Each match is a race to the points target you set per division, with an optional required winning margin. Enter the agreed result and the winner advances.
Level results in league fixtures
Decide before the season how a tied fixture is settled — a super over, a replay or shared points — and record the outcome you want the table to use.
Double elimination field sizes
Double elimination is supported for 4, 8, 16 and 32-team fields; other sizes are rejected with a clear message.
Squads, eligibility and byes
Set squad size and age or grade limits per division, seed the draw, and place byes where the field does not fill the bracket.

Cricket questions, answered
- What cricket formats can I run?
- Brakto supports single elimination, double elimination, pool play into playoffs, round robin, Swiss and league seasons. Formats are chosen per division, so a cup and a league can run side by side.
- Does Brakto score cricket ball by ball?
- No. Brakto is not a ball-by-ball scoring app and does not track overs, innings or wickets. Your scorers keep the official book, and the organizer records each match result against the points target set for the division.
- Can I run several divisions in one event?
- Yes. Each division is its own draw with its own entries, format, points target and eligibility rules, so a senior cup, a junior cup and a social league can share one event page.
- How much does it cost to run a cricket event?
- Free covers up to 8 players offline (CSV/manual import). Online registration costs a one-time $25 setup, and each player pays a flat $2 service fee added to their entry fee — the organizer keeps 100% of every entry fee. Club is $999/yr (or $99/mo) for unlimited events, with no per-player service fee. Standard payment processing fees apply when players pay you online.
- Can I run a cricket league season?
- Yes. A league is an event with a season schedule, configurable points, a live table and seeded playoffs once the regular season ends.
- Can I import teams and check them in on the day?
- Yes. Import teams and players by CSV/Excel when entries were collected offline, then use QR check-in at the ground. Results entered during play update brackets and tables immediately.
