Two ways to run the same event again — pick the one that matches how often you repeat it
Both start from an existing event's setup. The difference is whether you are making a one-off copy now, or saving a setup you will reuse.
In one line: Duplicate is a photocopy; a template is reusable stationery.
Go to the event's admin page and, in Quick Actions → Setup, choose Save as template.
Give it a name you will recognise (“Monday Pop-up”, “Moneyball”). Choose Everyone in this club to share it with the club's owners and admins, or Just me to keep it personal. Tick Include the current roster if you want the players carried across too.
The setup is stored. Nothing new is created yet — you will start from it when you need it. The success message links straight to your template library.
Go to Create. At the top of the page, Start from a template lists the setups you can use, with a Blank event card to start from scratch. Pick one and the new event is created in draft — settings and divisions ready, dates set a week after the template was last used (edit them any time).
You can also start from a template straight from the club:
Your template library is the Templates tab in the club admin console, and it is linked as Manage templates in every club event's Quick Actions. Each template shows what it contains (divisions and, when saved, players) and offers:
On the event's admin page, Quick Actions → Setup → Duplicate. Choose a name, a new start date (pre-filled a week later), and what to copy — teams & registrations, pool assignments, sponsors, co-organizers & staff, and custom court names. The new event opens in draft.
The members-only flag copies as-is — duplicating does not re-apply the private-club default.
Duplicating makes a one-off copy of one event right now — same settings and divisions, ready to edit. A template is a saved setup you keep and start from again and again. Duplicate = “this event, again”. Template = “our recurring format”.
Yes. Duplicating an event and saving or using a template both need an active Club plan (super admins excepted). The template library lives in the club admin console.
Only if you choose to. When you save a template you can tick “Include the current roster”. Without it, the template stores the event settings and divisions, not the teams or players. You can always add or drop players on the new event.
No. A template is a snapshot taken when you saved it. Editing the event afterwards does not change the template. To pull the latest settings in, open the template’s “Update from event”.
No. Events created from a template are ordinary events. Editing the template (or an event) never reaches back into the other. A template is a starting point, not a live link.
For a club: club home or club admin console → the Templates tab, which lists the club’s templates and your personal ones. Any template also appears under “Start from a template” when you create an event.
The template does not store authoritative dates. A new event starts a week after the template was last used (editable), and every date — event, registration and division — shifts by the same whole-day offset so the event keeps its length.
Yes. When you save a template, choose “Everyone in this club” to share it with the club’s owners and admins, or “Just me” to keep it personal. Club templates appear for every club admin; personal ones only for you.
No — not by duplicating and not by a template. Both copy the setup (settings, divisions, and optionally the roster), never results. Brackets, matches, games, scores, standings and check-ins always start empty.
