One club identity for rec programs and private clubs — without changing events that should stay public
A club is a membership group: members, branding (logo and color), and events created from that club. Rec leagues usually stay public so people can discover and join. Country clubs and similar groups turn Public Club off so the club and its members-only events stay off the public internet.
Access is based on club membership (an active member, or a club owner or admin) — not an email-domain lock.
Enter the club name, optional city, and pick Public rec club or Private members club. After Club checkout you must choose one — there is no silent public default. Logo, colors, membership fee, and auto-approve are in club settings after create.
The club page checklist covers invite, first event, and logo. Invite by email from the club page or Admin → Members. Create an event from the club so branding and members-only defaults apply.
| Public club | Private club | |
|---|---|---|
| Discover on /clubs | Yes | No — only in My Clubs for members |
| Join without an invite | Yes (or pending if auto-approve is off) | No — invite required |
| Direct club URL | Anyone can view the club page | Non-members are redirected away |
| New events | Open unless you check members-only | Members-only unless you uncheck it |
You can change Public Club later in club settings. That does not rewrite events you already created.
Club privacy and event privacy are separate. A members-only event requires sign-in and club membership to view or register. It is hidden from /events, featured lists, search, and sitemaps, and search engines get a generic “Members-only event” title.
Set the club logo and primary color in club settings. Club events use those when the event does not have its own logo or brand color. Upload an event-specific logo or color if one tournament should look different.
From the club page, invite by email. Private clubs cannot be joined from the public join button — members need an invite.

If auto-approve is off, an admin must approve before they count as a member.
You can create a club from /clubs while signed in. The Club plan ($790/year) is for unlimited events up to 256 players each. Checkout does not create a club — it activates the plan, then Create Your Club opens a one-screen form to name it and choose public or private.
No. Making a club private only defaults new events to members-only. Existing events stay as they are. Toggle Members-only on each event in Admin → Settings if you want to change one.
Yes. When you create the event from the club, uncheck Members-only event. You can also turn that switch off later in event settings.
Signed-in club members with an active membership, plus tournament admins and club owners/admins. Guests who are not members get a sign-in or members-only message. The event is hidden from /events, search, and sitemaps.
No. If the event has its own logo or brand color, those win. Otherwise the club logo and color are used automatically.
