1. What Is the Elimination Chamber?
The Elimination Chamber is one of WWE's most iconic match types and annual events. Six competitors are locked inside a massive steel structure with four glass (or chain-link) pods. Two wrestlers start in the ring, and the remaining four are sealed in the pods. At timed intervals, a pod opens and another competitor enters. Eliminations happen by pinfall or submission until one person remains.
How the Match Works
- 1Two competitors start in the ring while four others are locked inside individual pods
- 2Every 5 minutes, a pod opens and a new competitor enters the match
- 3Elimination by pinfall or submission β once you're pinned or tap out, you're done
- 4Last person standing wins β the final competitor earns the title shot or championship
π‘ Why It's Like a Bracket Tournament
Think of the Elimination Chamber as a live, real-time elimination bracket. Just like a single-elimination tournament, competitors are eliminated one by one until a champion emerges. The key difference? Everyone competes in the same arena simultaneously rather than in separate matches.
2. The 2026 Qualifying Bracket
For 2026, WWE used a bracket-style qualifying system. Over several weeks of Raw and SmackDown, triple threat qualifying matches determined who earned each spot in the Chamber. This is where the bracket format really shines β a structured knockout tournament leading to the main event.
Men's Chamber Qualifiers
Winner earns an Undisputed WWE Championship match at WrestleMania 42
Women's Chamber Qualifiers
Winner earns a WWE Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 42
π Bracket Takeaway
The qualifying rounds are essentially a bracket tournament within a tournament. Each triple threat match is a "first round" where three competitors battle for one slot β similar to a pool play round feeding into an elimination bracket. You can recreate this format for your own events using Brakto's free bracket generator.
